About Movement Building
The movement building workstream aims to strengthen and expand the movement to end FGM by mobilizing survivors, activists, and key stakeholders from grassroots to global levels. The workstream empowers girls and women, ensuring inclusive access to platforms that amplify their voices. Key activities include:
- Survivor Leadership Initiative (SLI) :Strengthens the leadership and emotional well-being of FGM survivors, promoting self-care, breaking stigma, and building survivor support networks.
- Network Strengthening :Facilitates survivor-led networks and fosters collaboration among governments, NGOs, and CSOs to drive legislative and advocacy efforts, such as the national survivor network in Kenya and the FGM Bill in Somaliland.
- E-Forum on Advancing Social Movements: A quarterly forum, in partnership with Girls Not Brides, for learning and collaboration between movements advancing the rights of women and girls, focusing on mental health, FGM, and child marriage.
